[imp. & p. p. {Limned} (l[i^]md); p. pr. & vb. n. {Limning} (l[i^]m"n[i^]ng or l[i^]m"[i^]ng).] [OE. limnen, fr. luminen, for enluminen, F. enluminer to illuminate, to limn, LL. illuminare to paint.
