[=a]hl[=o]pan, OFries. hlapa, D. loopen, G. laufen, OHG. louffan, hlauffan, Icel. hlaupa, Sw. l["o]pa, Dan. l["o]be, Goth. ushlaupan. Cf. {Elope}, {Lope}, {Lapwing}, {Loaf} to loiter.] 1.
