Octameter Oc*tam"e*ter, n. [Cf.L. octameter in eight feet. See {Octa-}, and {meter}.] 1. (Pros.) A verse containing eight feet; as,

Deep" in|to" the | dark"ness | peer"ing, | long" I | stood" there | wond'"ring, | fear"ing. --Poe. [1913 Webster]

2. (Chem.) A molecule composed of eight monomer units bound to each other, usually in a linear array; as, an octomer formed of nucleotides is called an octonucleotide. [PJC]
