Ortygan Or"ty*gan, n. [Gr. ?, ?, a quail.] (Zo["o]l.) One of several species of East Indian birds of the genera {Ortygis} and {Hemipodius}. They resemble quails, but lack the hind toe. See {Turnix}. [1913 Webster]
