awash a*wash", a. [Pref. a- + wash.] 1. Washed by the waves or tide; -- said of a rock or strip of shore; or specifically: (Naut.) flush with the surface of the water, so that the waves break over it; -- of an anchor, etc. [1913 Webster]

2. Abounding; filled; covered; -- used mostly with in or with, in phrases such as ``stores awash with customers''. [PJC]
