Rear Rear, v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Reared} (r[=e]rd); p. pr. & vb. n. {Rearing}.] [AS. r[=ae]ran to raise, rear, elevate, for r[=ae]san, causative of r[=i]san to rise. See {Rise}, and cf. {Raise}.] 1.
