(a) One of several American blackbirds, of the family {Icterid[ae]}; as, the rusty grackle ({Scolecophagus Carolinus}); the boat-tailed grackle (see Boat-tail); the purple grackle ({Quiscalus quiscula}, or {Q. versicolor}).
