2. belonging to or relating to the Democratic party, the political party so called. [1913 Webster]

3. Befitting the common people; -- opposed to {aristocratic}. [1913 Webster]

Note: Presidents of the United States who belonged to the Democratic party in the twentieth century were Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton. [1913 Webster +PJC]
