Thorium Tho"ri*um, n. [NL. See {Thorite}.] (Chem.) A metallic element found in certain rare minerals, as thorite, pyrochlore, monazite, etc., and isolated as an infusible gray metallic powder which burns in the air and forms thoria; -- formerly called also {thorinum}.
