Zygenid yg"e*nid, n. [Cf. Gr. ?, probably the hammer-headed shark.] (Zo["o]l.) Any one of numerous species of moths of the family {Zyg[ae]nid[ae]}, most of which are bright colored. The wood nymph and the vine forester are examples. Also used adjectively. [1913 Webster]
