Canis major
Canis Ca"nis (k[a^]"n[i^]s), n.; pl. {Canes} (-n[=e]z). [L., a dog.] (Zo["o]l.) A genus of carnivorous mammals, of the family {Canid[ae]}, including the dogs and wolves. [1913 Webster]
