([e^]v`[.a]*n[e^]s"s[i^]ng).] [L. evanescere; e out + vanescere to vanish, fr. vanus empty, vain. See {Vain}, and cf. {Evanish}.] To vanish away; to become dissipated and disappear, like vapor.
