Gainsay Gain`say" (? or ?; 277), v. t. [imp. & p. p. {Gainsaid} (? or ?); p. pr. & vb. n. {Gainsaying}.] [OE. geinseien, ageinseien. See {Again}, and {Say} to utter.] To contradict; to deny; to controvert; to dispute; to forbid. [1913 Webster]
