Gloat Gloat, v. i. [imp. & p. p. {Gloated}; p. pr. & vb. n. {Gloating}.] [Akin to Icel. glotta to smile scornfully, G. glotzen to gloat.] To look steadfastly; to gaze earnestly; to gaze with passionate desire, lust, or avarice. [1913 Webster]
