Cittern Cit"tern, n. [L.cithara, Gr. kiqa`ra. Cf. {Cithara}, {Gittern}.] (Mus.) An instrument shaped like a lute, but strung with wire and played with a quill or plectrum. [Written also {cithern}.] --Shak. [1913 Webster]
