disinfectant dis`in*fect"ant, n. That which disinfects, especially an agent for killing or removing the microorganisms which cause infection. Commonly used disinfectants are chlorine, sodium hypochlorite solution, hydrogen peroxide, and alcohol. [1913 Webster +PJC]
