Cease Cease (s[=e]s), v. i. [imp. & p. p. {Ceased} (s[=e]st); p. pr. & vb. n. {Ceasing}.] [OE. cessen, cesen, F. cesser, fr. L. cessare, v. intensive fr. cedere to withdraw.
