Anodyne An"o*dyne ([a^]n"[-o]*d[imac]n), a. [L. anodynus, Gr. ? free from pain, stilling pain; 'an priv. + ? pain: cf. F. anodin.] Serving to assuage pain; soothing. [1913 Webster]
