Cretaceous Cre*ta"ceous (kr[-e]*t[=a]"sh[u^]s), a. [L. cretaceus, fr. creta chalk. See {Crayon}.] 1. Having the qualities of chalk; abounding with chalk; chalky; as, cretaceous rocks and formations. See {Chalk}. [1913 Webster]
